B.Sc. Agriculture
Duration- 4 years (8 semesters)

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Meerut Institute of Technology (PC), Meerut was started in the year 2018 to provide high quality education in Agriculture. Lab and field work to a wide cross section of students. The Department has a reputation for innovative Agricultural program up-to-date curriculum, quality courseware, personalized instruction related to Agricultural awareness and strong business management. In a short span of time, the department of Agriculture has grown impressively and achieved wide spread recognition from Industry and academic circles.

Objectives:
  • To provide an opportunity to the students to understand the rural setting in relation to agriculture and allied activities.
  • To impart diagnostic and remedial knowledge to the students relevant to real field situations through practical training.
  • The B.Sc. Agriculture at MIT seeks to deliver key aspects of technical knowledge of Agriculture and professional ethics to the students.
  • The B.Sc. Agriculture degree is designed to provide knowledge and skills both functional and integrative in the field of Agriculture.
  • The students would be attached with the agro industries to get an experience of the industrial environment which is helpful for job opportunity and business also.

  • The Department of Agriculture committed to disseminate knowledge of integrated agricultural and environmental systems to students and society. We strive to support student success through a creative, engaging, and fulfilling work environment that facilitates excellence and personal satisfaction among its personnel.
Mission
  • To develop knowledge about the various streams of Agriculture viz. Crops management, Forestry, Horticulture and Animal husbandry for the enhancement of production and productivity for the benefit of agriculture community and society.

  • PO-1 Apply the knowledge of Agricultural Science, Forestry, Livestock and other allied branches to the solution of complex agricultural problems. 
  • PO-2 Understand the impact of the professional agricultural solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • PO-3 Able to understand and demonstrate research based knowledge of the legal and ethical environment impacting agriculture organizations and exhibit an understanding and appreciation of the ethical implications of decisions.
  • PO-4 Able to demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for the importance of the impact of globalization and diversity in modern agriculture organizations. Understanding of globalization, and NGO working.
  • PO-5 Able to demonstrate an ability to engage in critical thinking by analyzing situations and constructing and selecting viable solutions to solve problems. Ability to work effectively with others. To develops analytical ability and team work spirit.
  • PO-6 Understand and analyze the current events and issues that are occurring in agriculture and how they affect futuristic agriculture.
  • PO-7 Able to recognize and examine the relationships between inputs and outputs in their agricultural field to make effective and profitable decisions. To understand mechanics of agri- entrepreneurship.
  • PO-8 Understand how all aspects of agriculture combine and are used by scientists, marketers, producers and understand how employer characteristics and decision-making at various levels enhance the success of an agricultural enterprise. To understand components of agri business and economics of market.
  • PO-9 Able to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills as they apply to a variety of animal and or plant production systems .To understand problem solving skills in crop production and animal husbandry.
  • PO-10 Knowledge of Weather codes and Symbols, Reading and Recording of weather and climatic data. To get trained for climatologically records, soil data and soil nutrition.
  • PO-11 Able to develop critical and self-critical opinion and approach aiming at solving the most important practical problems in the field of plant protection by applying gained competencies and in accordance with high standards of academic integrity (ethics and moral) both in the profession and in society as a whole. To develop competence to work in Government, public and private sectors.
  • PO-12 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in horticulture section: The breadth and depth of the profession of horticulture. Basic horticulture biology: taxonomy, anatomy, morphology, and physiology. The characteristics of the environment and their influence on plant growth and development. Current applications of horticultural principles and practices: propagation, pest management, production, maintenance, and business practices. Comprehensive knowledge of horticultural production.
  • PO-13 This programme will also help students to enhance their employability for jobs in different sectors.

Accommodation

MIT has hostel for boys and girls. The overall charge of student's discipline and hostel administration vests in the Chief Warden. All the hostel rooms are provided with Wi-Fi connectivity with 24 hours internet. The hostels provide 24 hour's electricity supply, water heaters.

Auditorium

Auditorium is a facility that strives to meet the needs of the college. MIT has designed centrally air-conditional multipurpose auditorium with the seating capacity of 300 students. It is equipped with latest audio-video system which fulfill the requirement of conferences, workshops, guest lectures, technical and cultural events.

Medical Facilities

Campus has a medical centre with a full time medical attendant to look after the health of students with basic facilities like first aid and medication. The institute not only provides comprehensive medical facilities to the students living in hostel but also to day scholars.

Transport facility

MIT has its own fleet of Buses & Ambulances. Institute provides transport facility to the interested candidates on various routes depending on the minimum availability of the students. The vehicles also ply as transport to our hostellers to the examination centers during the end semester examinations.
